PACE cooperates with Sparkasse, paydirekt GmbH and SPayment GmbH, and integrates paydirekt as a payment method within the Connected Fueling platform and the PACE Drive app.

S-Payment GmbH and PACE Telematics GmbH have integrated paydirekt into the PACE Drive app. From now on, drivers can also use the online payment method of the German banks and Sparkasse to pay for their fuel on the go at already around 400 gas stations across Germany. These include all Hoyerbranded service stations in Germany. As part of their collaboration, S-Payment and PACE Telematics want to further expand acceptance for the PACE Drive app within the German gas station network. The app can be used free of charge on iPhones and Android smartphones and enables payment directly at the pump.

Mobile payment offers drivers many practical advantages: It eliminates the need to go to the cash register, and with it the current requirement to wear a medical face mask when paying. Long waiting times are thus a thing of the past for app users – even at peak times, the fuel stop is completed quickly and smoothly. Another advantage: children, pets, or valuables no longer have to be left unattended in the car while paying.

Paying smart and driving on right away

When approaching the gas station, the PACE Drive app informs the driver that mobile payment is available. The user selects the gas pump he or she wants to fill up at in the app. The amount due is displayed exactly and the customer can now choose which payment method he or she wants to use – from now on also paydirekt. The customer confirms each payment personally via Face ID, fingerprint or PIN.

“Mobile services are on the rise in all sectors and are also playing an increasingly important role in the automotive sector.”

Christian von Hammel-Bonten, CEO of paydirekt

“Mobile services are on the rise in all sectors and are also playing an increasingly important role in the automotive sector,” says Christian von Hammel-Bonten, CEO of paydirekt. “By integrating paydirekt into the PACE Drive app, we are showing how convenient payment in mobility apps can be.”

The total is directly transferred from the account for payment, the customer receives a digital receipt by email, which can also be seen within the app, and he or she can continue driving right away. The cashier at the gas station is automatically notified by the system that the selected gas pump has been paid for and is released again

Connected Fueling – the new way to fuel

The technological basis for mobile payment directly at the pump is the open Connected Fueling platform created by PACE Telematics. It enables a uniform, cost-saving connection of all partners to the cloud system of connectedfueling.com. The independent platform is open to all mineral oil companies and POS system providers. In addition, Conneced Fueling offers flexible interfaces and easy-to-integrate software development kits (SDKs) to car manufacturers and app providers to integrate the mobile payment function into their systems.

S-Payment is a subsidiary of Deutscher Sparkassenverlag and the payment competence center of the Sparkassen-Finanzgruppe. “For us, the cooperation with PACE Telematics is an important milestone in establishing strategic partnerships with car manufacturers and automotive suppliers on behalf of the Sparkassen-Finanzgruppe in the dynamic market for ‘connected car’ applications,” explains Benjamin Wingert, Product Portfolio Manager at S-Payment. “The goal is to integrate the payment processes of the German banking industry into the connectivity platforms and apps of the automotive industry.”
