Whether in Germany or Europe, the PACE acceptance network continues to grow unstoppably. Now, in a pilot project, gas stations in Vienna have joined the network. This means that the new way of fueling is now also reaching Austria’s capital.
How it works: After registering once in the PACE Drive app, users select the appropriate pump when refueling, fill up as usual, and then briefly confirm the transaction on their smartphone. The receipt for the payment is sent by email or in the app. With PACE Drive, payment is made using familiar payment methods such as Apple Pay, PayPal, or credit card.
It is particularly worth mentioning that PACE has also supported payments via smartwatch since last year. What sounds like science fiction basically works the same way as on a smartphone: select a pump, fill up, pay, and drive on; only without a smartphone, just with a few taps on the wrist.
Having a strategically important partner in Austria is a particularly important step for us and allows us to look to the future with great optimism.

For gas stations, such as the stations in Vienna, there are numerous advantages: Waiting times at the checkout are reduced, completely contactless payments become possible and customer satisfaction increases. Customers also benefit: Time is saved, motorcyclists can keep their helmets on their heads, children or dogs do not have to be left alone in the car, and receipts can be viewed automatically and easily in digital form.
“We are happy about every further integration, now also having a strategically important partner in Austria is a very important step for us and lets us look very optimistically into the future”, adds Philip Blatter, one of the founders and managing directors of PACE Telematics GmbH.
